Our Story

Sean & Rachelle Daugherty have taken their two favorite things and combined them into one very unique offering - a place that encourages the coming together of coffee and their four-legged furry companions.

Prior to forming Iron Mutt Coffee, Sean was an insurance agent for Farmers Insurance.  And while Rachelle continues her work at Providence of Portland, she commits a great deal of time and engergy in supporting and building this exciting venture.

Sean and Rachelle created Iron Mutt Coffee with a goal of making a positive impact in the community. Their common love for animals has been the prime motivator. For a period of time, they fostered animals through OFOSA - Oregon Friends of Sheltered Animals (An organization that provides temporary placement while looking for permanent homes.) Because of this experience, the Iron Mutt business model includes reinvesting back into non-profit animal organizations.

Bailey, a 10-month old "pure-bred" mutt, was in the OFOSA program process, when Sean & Rachelle decided to make her a permanent placement in their home. After her adoption, Bailey required a titanium hip replacement - hence, making her THE "Iron Mutt" - namesake for their business.

Distinctive pet-related offerings at Iron Mutt include:

• A custom enclosed outdoor dog run / patio built for both the two and four-legged set.
• Treats and spoils for purchase for pets.
• A brag wall that showcases their customers pets as well as promoting area fundraisers for animals.
• Complimentary water and biscuits. (Intended for the dogs.)
• Beautiful hand-painted animal-motif murals and custom animal portraits along the walls.
